Matthew 22:34-40 (CEB)

34 When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had left the Sadducees speechless, they met together. 35 One of them, a legal expert, tested him. 36 “Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 He replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.”

Matthew 10:42 (CEB)

42 I assure you that everybody who gives even a cup of cold water to these little ones because they are my disciples will certainly be rewarded.”

DEVOTION – Keith Honeyman (Cape Town, South Africa)

My dream is to rent a stadium and witness of tens of thousands or to go platinum with a gospel CD release that raises the pulse-rate of millions.

I daydream about making a “big splash” for Jesus.  As a small boy I loved throwing stones into the water to make splashes or to see how many times I could make flat stones skip across the water’s surface.  Large splashes are great, but even the smallest pebble creates visible ripples that radiate outward.  The ripples can cause the myriad leaves and reeds around the edge of the water to bob and sway.

Our smallest signs of faith and love – a kind word or smile, a helping hand, turning the other check, tiny gifts given freely – can create ripples that radiate outward and carry the love of Christ into the lives of many.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Small acts of faith can create big waves of love.

LINK2LIFE: Volunteer to serve on the evangelism or local missions committee in your church.

PRAYER: Loving God, help us to continually throw pebbles of love into the still waters of the world.  Give us the strength to spread your love to others.  Amen.
